Is there any way to prevent destruction of the laser in the laser communicator project? So far I have fried 3 lasers - I had a few of the exact kind on hand, they are cheap but I am getting low :-) . I get sound (its a bit scratchy but its definitly the music I expect) from the receiver so I know its working, it just wont last. I have a 100ohm 1/4watt resistor in between the batteries and the laser and it seems that I have to have the music source pretty loud but you can actually see the laser light sparkle when the music is on. Is there anyway to preserve the life of the little laser. |

A cool way to transmit audio is to take one of those bright keychain LED flashlights, and remove the LED. Then, connect it to an audio source, and take a solar cell, and connect it to a microphone jack in a stereo. Use a lens to refract the light to somewhat make the distance farther. |
