You could use a frying pan and a spatula~ but if you feel it won't float your boat I'd suggest taking the space elevator to Ganymede.

My gosh, I'm sorry. that was terrible on my part but I'm still laughing. :-)
What I mean to ask is 'what else could replace the term "oscillation" and what is it that you're trying to compare to a repetitious motion such as a clock or something?'
