Fireworks seem to have alot of neat stuff in them, I'm want to try and seperate them out by dissolving them in water but why do they become duds when they get wet? |

Because the nitrates dissolve in water. |

I got the nitrates out and any other soluable salts with water, how am I going to seperate the metals and sulfur and charcoal? I can get some iron out with a magnet but there isn't much there. |

You might find a liquid in which the charcoal and sulfur will float, but the metals will sink. Look up the specific gravity (density) of sulfur and charcoal, and compare that to the specific gravity of various dense liquids such as carbon tetrachloride. |
