Well, since you didn't leave me any address to send a toy to (good idea, since this is a public forum), I'll have to settle for sending you links to free toys. Try this one: "http://www.cyberspace.org/~jh/dial/" |

Dear Mr. Field My name is Raymond Liu and I'm nine years old. I loved your magnet in mid air project(I'm going to do it for the science fair). I'm just wondering if you can send me 2 or 1 free 2mm super magnets (neodymium-iron-boron magnets)? I bought bismuth and a piezo-electric igniter from your catolog and I go on your website almost every day! Please? Plese mail it to me at: 1412 Pinnacles St. Davis CA USA 95616. I'm going to make the film can cannon since I have a Igniter and I'm going to give it to my dad for a chrismas present. Can the igniter run forever? How long? Plese write back. Sincerely, Raymond G Liu |

I would soon run out of money just from the postage if I sent everyone free toys. I am sure you understand. The ignitors should still work fine after 10,000 uses. After that, the spark may be a little weaker. |

To be fair, I'm sure we all want free stuff. ;-) My take on his complaint was that shipping small items from Connecticut to Australia costs $13.25 U.S. dollars. The two locations are roughly a "world" apart, which is to say that the world is in the way, hence his last complaint. The Internet is built on free stuff. You probably didn't pay anything for the browser you use to read this message. You can read my entire book for free on the web site, even after it comes out in paper form at bookstores (the latest estimated date is October, and the bookstores will charge you for it, as will I if you order it from our catalog). Free stuff is great! Many of the projects can be made from things you might otherwise throw away. In some sense, those are free. Perhaps I should set up a page on the site where people can donate a dollar to the site, to help pay for the hosting, the bandwidth (you would be amazed at what a high volume web site costs per month!) and for materials for designing new toys. Most of my toy ideas don't work for one reason or another, and I only publish the ones that work well and are easy to make. But building all of the failures still costs money. But if I could get the money for free.... |

If you make a new web-site then why done you use advertising for money. I'm sure you get more then 10,000 hits a day on this site so adveritise on it. |

You can rip apart old broken electronics to get good components. Unfortunately, they are poorley labeled, but things like speakers, motors, and LEDs should work fine. |
