I was wondering if there is a way to make smoke bombs with house hold items. |

try searching google for smoke bomb. most of them require saltpeter, but you can probabily find some other designes. A smoke bomb is just black pouder that is mixed to burn slowly. If you can find saltpeter anywhere your set. |

Saltpeter is potassium nitrate. If you do a Google search for "potassium nitrate" you will see several suppliers right up at the top. When I did the search, the prices were listed on the search results page -- $2.17 for a pound from one company, $4.95 for two pounds from another, and $74.50 for a kilogram from a third company (the latter is probably higher purity (> 99.0%) than you need by quite a lot). Personally, I don't find smoke bombs to be much fun, and the safety issues need to be mentioned, as they are unlikely to be used in a safe way, or for a purpose that is not intended to harm or offend someone. I think you would have much more fun with rocketry, to pick only one hobby from many. Or try looking up "punkin chunkin" on Google. A trebuchet makes a fine project for someone as clever as the folks reading this. |

Then you have to get an iron canister to put the smokebomb in and then drop that canister (with holes in it) trough the hole that should work i think. |

Smoke Bombs by the captin anarchist Here is the recipe for one helluva smoke bomb! 4 parts sugar 6 parts potassium nitrate (Salt Peter) Heat this mixture over a LOW flame until it melts, stirring well. Pour it into a future container and, before it solidifies, imbed a few matches into the mixture to use as fuses. One pound of this stuff will fill up a whole block with thick, white smoke! |

you need nto bother melting that mixture.. its nto worth the risk of accidental ignition ( ask me how i know! I burned my hand on the way out the door with the sizzling pan!).. .jsut mix the two powders and they will ignite and smoke just fine. |

If you can't find saltpeter, and have some bacon on hand, check out the bacon smoke bomb project on my site. http://readknowdo.cjb.net |

A web site that requires an ActiveX program running on my machine in order to read the site? You aren't going to get a lot of visitors who have ever had a computer virus teach them not to download software without knowing more about it. I am certainly not going to let your program run on my machine. |

The easiest way to make a smoke bomb for those without access to chemicals. Simpily go down to the supermarket and buy some ping pong balls then take them home and wrap the ball in al-foil (aluminium foil). Wrap the ball in a way so as that there is a handle like piece for you to hold onto whilst you light it. |

Yes, try that site on a Mac. ActiveX programs work so well on the machines for the rest of them. Or on my Linux machine. Anyone visiting that site will either get no results, or will be asked if they want to run somebody's untrustworthy program to see results. No thanks. Machines that have few users are less likely to be targeted by viruses. But they also are less likely to be targeted by developers. There are many programs I would like to run on my Linux box or my Mac, or my PocketPC, because equivalents just don't exist for those machines. But I have a few Windows machines, which I keep clear of viruses by all of the normal mathods, one of which is not running software I have no reason to trust. |

Try emulators. The XP Mac emulator sucks as much as XP, but Win2000 I hear works well. Put it on a small partition that you can trash and reinstall if it screws up. |

It is much easier just to run the programs on my Windows machine, and not run programs from sources I can't trust. It's also much faster and more robust. |

My site requires ActiveX? I didn't kow about this. I don't even know how to use activex on websites. Man, I hate ActiveX. Stupid invention. I'll see if I can solve the problem. I promise, I'm not trying to give you viruses. |

If any one wants a cool pyro site, go to www.unitednuclear.com. It sounds odd, but it has cool pyro stuff. It has almost nothing to do with nuclear stuff. |

5{, the EASIEST way to make a smoke bomb is to wrap a ping pong ball in aluminum foil and hold a match under it for a few seconds. When it starts hissing, throw it to the ground or whatever, it'll get kinds hot. Then it smokes 4 a few seconds. |

actually if you melt the KNO3 and the sugar together it will produce a noticably greater amount of smoke |

VERY CHEAP SALT PETER (Potassium Nitrate)!!!! You can get Salt Peter at a Lowe's or Home Depot near you. Stump remover is about 99% pue KNO3 (Potassium Nitrate). Most stores sell it by the pound in a large plastic bottle. Just be sure to check the ingredients to make sure that it contains 98% or more Potassium Nitrate as the active ingredient. These "smoke bombs" also burn VERY hot so be careful where you light them. Happy Birthday America !!!! |

smoke is made of chemicals, no chemicals=no smoke But check this out... "Make 'smoke' with your mouth Compress the air in your mouth, then let off the pressure, then let the air out slowly. You'll see fog! Detailed version: Face a light source such as a bare light bulb. Tightly close you lips. Fill your cheeks with air partially, breathe normally through your nose, then fiercely tense your cheeks and lips while blowing to compress the air inside. (It helps if you push fingers on your lips to keep air from spurting out.) Now relax your cheeks, part your lips, and spit the air out very slowly. (Don't breathe out, instead spit the air out with cheeks and tongue.) Smoke! Fog comes out of your mouth. It's just like the fog in the neck of a freshly opened bottle of cola. This works great in the dark with a flashlight" source: http://amasci.com/~billb/cgi-bin/instr/instr.html |

The Best Way.... How to Make a Smoke Bomb Smoke Bomb Materials Brown sugar preferred, if you don’t have use regular sugar. potassium nitrate, KNO3, also known as saltpeter (you can find this at some garden supply stores in the fertilizer section, some pharmacies carry it too) skillet or pan aluminum foil Instrictions 1. Pour about 6 parts potassium nitrate to 4 parts sugar into the skillet. Measurements don't need to be exact, but you want more KNO3 than sugar. If you use equal amounts of KNO3 and sugar, your Smoke bomb will be harder to light and will burn more slowly. 2. Apply low heat to the pan. Stir the mixture with a spoon using long strokes. If you see the grains of sugar starting to melt along the edges where you are stirring, remove the pan from the heat and reduce the temperature before continuing. 3. Basically you are carmelizing sugar. The mixture will melt and become a caramel or chocolate color. Continue heating/stirring until the ingredients are liquefied. Remove from heat. 4. Pour the liquid onto a piece of foil. You can pour a smaller amount onto a separate piece, to test the batch. You can pour the smoke bomb into any shape, onto an object, or into a mold. The shape and size will affect the burning pattern. 5. If you aren't going to clean your skillet immediately, pour hot water into the pan to dissolve the sugar (or else it will be harder to clean). Clean up any residue you may have spilled out of the pan, unless you want mini-smoke bombs on your stovetop. 6. Allow the smoke bomb to cool, then you can peel it off the foil. 7. The solid smoke bomb material is flammable and can be lit directly. You can light your smoke bomb using a lighter. The smoke bomb will burn vigorously with a purple flame. Alternatively, you could place a short length of wick into the smoke bomb when you pour it, and then light the wick. If you want to have a better smoke bomb poor into a ping pong ball and add a wick. 2nd, seal holes with glue. 3rd, put 1 or 2 coats of nail polish. 4th, put 1 or 2 coats of duck tape. Last, light and have fun!!!! By: Andrew |
