I sent a friend the crystal radio kit for Christmas, and included some extra wire and whatnot so she'd have a better antenna, etc. I had suggested in a mail to her that with "some modifications" it may be possible to pick up WWV at 2.5MHz. While this is seemingly correct, what would said modifications be? I believe that there was something with increasing capacitance somewhere-- would putting a very low capacitance capacitor in parallel with the variable capacitor raise the tuning range by some offset? (Say, adding a 50 picofarad capacitor in parallel, possibly changing the range to 680-1780, and so forth?)
