I have just made the AM transmitter but it is very quiet and can only just be heard if the radio volume is turned right up. I think it may be the audio transformer-it is 3 ohms and 1200 ohms impedance. Is there any way I can amplify the signal?

You can increase the modulation by putting more power
into the audio signal. Turn up the volume of the sound source
going into the transmitter. You can amplify that if needed.
