I need a simple circut to generate high voltage. I have a few requirements
It must be simple i.e. no IC and prefreably single transistor.
It can not have a flyback sinceI can't get one.
It must be small and run of a 9v battery.

If anyone knows of any circute please post it here.

-thanks

take a transformer off an alarm clock build a circuit to occilate the battery at about 60 hertz hook the output of the occilator circuit to the out put of the transformer if the transformer had an output of 9vac (most do) and an input of
120vac then the output of the circuit would be 120vac if you add another battery in series the out put would be 240 volts now if you use a transformer desinged for an input of 240vac (from the uk)then the out put would be 480 volts wow!or if you use a automotive ignition coil you could get 40,000 volts but then you would want to increase the occilation a bit have fun and dont kill yourself

for an occilator. use a relay that has 2 sets of contacts and activates at 9vdc.to make the occilator wire a 9vdc relay with 2 sets of contacts to turn on and off continuosly. use the unused set of contacts to turn on and off the coil. also with the power off the contacts should be closed this is important. also the spark gap can be any 2 things pointy very close together

What's worked really well for me is the circuit from the inside of a lightning ball thing(them things that have a glass globe and track your finger movements). It works off 12volts and will draw about 8,000 volts and can be used without any modification. It's really sore if you touch it though.
