hi, i have this idea and want to know if you think it is feasible.I am a complete novice when it comes to electrics, so if you think it will be too technical, please let me know!
I am wanting to make an old acme style 'wild e coyote' detonator, you know the big red box with a push down handle type. i was wanting it to charge up a neon light explosion on a wall, and also for it to run off a 12volt battery hidden within the detonator casing.
so. . has anybody made a detonator like this before?
what problems might i face using a 12v charge from a car battery to run a neon light? and what sort of connecting trigger would i use?
all advice most welcome!

a simple push button switch can be your trigger at the bottom of your detonator

Neon lights need about 78 volts to light up.
You might try light emitting diodes instead, or step the voltage up
using several batteries in series.

No.
Batteries in parallel do not increase the voltage.
Batteries in series do.
Nine 9-volt batteries in series produce at least 81 volts
(since they actually produce more than 9 volts each).
The same number of 9-volt batteries in parallel produce
a little over 9 volts.
