Hello,

I was experimenting around with making my own linear induction motor, and for some reason, it actually worked! Technically it is not a motor, but more less a solenoid. All you have to do is get a pipe a little bit bigger than a cylindrical magnet and wrap a lot of turns around it. Then stick the magnet in halfway. Don't worry about what direction; I haven't got that figured out yet. Then connect the wires to a six volt battery (does not matter where the neg. and pos. are.) and if you did it right, the magnet should pop out. Isn't that cool!?! For the little pipe, I got a Zebra pencil and took the metal part off of it. I found this at school, but I'm sure you can buy one at any office supply store. The pictures I took turned out bad, so I'll try to take more and post them another time.

Kyle, a 7th grader
