Hi Simon, I need a "radio controlled switch" for one of my projects. All it has to do is provided on/off control. Can you help? I found this project online: http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/rc-sw.htm The problem is that I am a beginner, and don't really understand the project. What does it mean by "Rx Signal In"? And what sort of transmitter am i supposed to use? If you think that that project is to hard, can you suggest an alternative? AM? FM? IR? Please help! |

Rx and Tx are shorthand for Receive and Transmit respectively. The circuit you pointed to is just the switch, it does not include the receiver. What I would recommend to someone who does not have a lot of time to learn electronics and radio theory, is to get a cheap $5 radio controlled car from a toy store, and remove the circuit board from that. It can already turn a motor on and off, and that's all you need. Remove the motor, and replace it with your device. Most of the cheap toys run the motor all the time, and simply reverse it when you push the transmitter button. To make a switch from one of these, just put a diode in series with your device, so that when the current tries to go the other way, it is blocked. |
