Yes.

There are many projects like this in electronics hobbyist magazines
such as Circuit Cellar, Electronic Now, Radio Electronics, Wireless
World, Popular Electronics, Nuts and Volts, etc. Back issues are
available in libraries, along with indexes for finding the projects.
Have your librarian help you find them.
