Simon, My name is Mark and I am a magician. I have some ideas that I am working on, but I don't have enough electronics background to get this done... If you could assist me in making the blue prints and parts list that would be great. I would even be willing to pay you if you think that this might take a long time to do... (but we can talk about that later) I do have some basic knowledge of electronics, enough to be dangerous. My big problem is the radio controler even if you could help me with just that I would be very happy... **** Project 1 - Stage Ready Light All I need is a small box with a 4 green diodes and 4 red diodes a on/off switch and a radio controled switch that switches the light from red to green and vise versa... That it!!! To make this a little harder I would like maybe a third setting to the radio switch for red light flashing. But if thats to much I have no problem with the red/green only with no flash... For this I don't care how big the transmitter is, there could be three switches. For the three modes, one two way switch with a timed 1 minute blink. What ever is easy and cheap or as cheap as we can get it.. ## Purpose: When I do Magic Stage shows, performers have a time limit, I would like a to put the box on the front of the stage with the lights to the performer. I would stand in the wings and keep time. When he goes on the light is green... If he has to perform for 10 minutes, at nine minutes I would hit the switch and the red light would blink, so the performer knows he has one minute, at 10 minutes I would hit the switch again and the light would go red, which tells the performer get off the stage!!! **** Project 2 - Flashing Box The second one is not much harder. A small box, with one on/off switch. one green light and one red light hooked with buzzer. Turning on the on switch would make the Green light go on. A small radio controled switch would make the green light go off and the red light and buzzer go on. The Hard part about this is the Radio Transmitter needs to be small enough to fit in and work from inside my pocket. The Transmitter should have a push button switch... So if I hold the button the red light and buzzer stays on, if i let it go the light should go back to green. ## Purpose: A magic prop Sincerely, Mark |

For the first project, I would recommend a timer. But if you are intent on remote control, the solution for project 2 should also work. For project 2 I would recommend one of the keychain transmitters you see all over the place (usually to unlock car doors). If the receiver can be plugged in, you can use X-10 stuff (although it sometimes has reliability problems due to noise). Then you don't need any of your electronics expertise. If you have any computer skills, I would recommend the Parallax device. A tiny transmitter in your pocket, a tiny receiver connected to a tiny computer, and you can make it do anything. The electronics part is dead simple, and the programming is also really easy -- with lots of examples to modify to your bidding, and lots of fanatics on-line who love to help. There are many things you can do but using almost and small transmitter you can find will work. Most are simple enough so all you have to do is plug in a few wires and it should work out. Radio Shack has a great variety of switches and push buttons that will work. For problem one I would suggest a three way switch so the whole thing would be more compact and probably alot simpler. You would have to work out the frequency problems and the voltages, but I hope my info helped. Sincerely A 6th Grader |

you should go to a dollor store and buy a cheap radio control car(the kind that goes forward until you press the only button on the remote and it goes backwards) look at the next post |
