You are right, FM radios are inexpensive.

However, so are AM radios, and our AM radio projects
are very popular.

I think some people like to build things, even if they can
be purchased easily. They like the idea that they know how
the device works, and that they built it themselves.

Anyone who has built an FM radio for fun can describe their
project here in this message board, and upload pictures and
drawings to help others. This also goes for any other projects
people have built.

Buld an FM Xtal Set - - or - -
a Demodulator, using a micro-amp bulb as a
Fessenden Baretter .

Using 'skin effect' losses thru the filament of the bulb, you can control the amount of d.c. current flowing thru the bulb to create an AF signal . .FM Detector
