Not originally my idea, but I wrote some instructions on how to make a simple smoke bomb:

You need:
Ping Pong ball
Aluminum foil
Candle
Lighter/Matches
Some sort of 1 to 2 foot long handle (I used 2 wooden sticks I got at Wal-Mart)

Instructions:
1. Wrap ball in aluminum foil, bunch all the extra foil into a sort of handle coming out of the wrapped ball.

2. Using more foil, attach the 1 to 2 foot handle to the foil handle you made with the ball.

3. Put the candle on the ground (OUTSIDE!) and light it.

4. While holding the handle as far from the ball as possible, hold the ball over the lit candle. Make sure the flame is touching, or very close to the ball.

5. Keep holding the ball over flame until you see a little bit of gray smoke come out (this may take a minute or two). Take it off the flame quickly and (still holding the handle) throw it where ever you want. It should create quite a bit of bad smelling gray smoke.

Sometimes the ball will shoot flames out and not smoke at all. Here is a video showing one working correctly and one not:

As always, playing with fire is extremely dangerous and should never be done by anyone. I can't take responsibility if you burn yourself doing this.

One should realize that many plastics produce toxic and/or suffocating smoke when they burn.
