to magnetize a screwdriver i have herd that this could be done using an old speaker. just put the shaft thats closest to the handle at the part of the magnet that attaches to the metel and pull the shaft across the magnet keeping it as close as possable. do this 2-3 time and there, you have a magnetized screwdriver. | ||

Or you can buy a magnitiser from places like DickSmith Electronics, it has a spot to magnitise and de-magnitise | ||

simple,just get a magnet and rub the magnet on the screwdriver or its the other way around. im not sure if the effects are permanent | ||

An almost permanant way of magnetizing a screwdriver is inserting it into the cavity of a running solenoid. If it's energized, it'll magnitize it almost perminantly (leave it inside the solenoid for a bit). | ||

I seem to recall in the dim and distant past, a Physics lesson where we learned that if you point a screwdiver, at an angel of 70% to the North and then hit it with a hammer, it become magnetised. Did I just dream this? | ||

Yes it does work, the angle of 70% lines the screwdriver with the earth's N and S fields, when it is hit with the hammer it shakes up the magnetic particles in the screwdriver and they can line up the the earth's magentic field. But note you need to hit it really hard and more than once to. Maybe a better way would be to heat it up past it's curie point and let it cool while it's lined up? Also the angle of 70% seems a bit much, I don't think the magnetic N and S would be that far off from the geographic N and S | ||

Make an electro magnet out of it. Coil a wire around the screwdriver neatly and on the ends attach a 9 volt battery. | ||

heres an easy way to magnetise a screwdriver. first you need a 6 volt dry battery cell, some insulated copper wire safety glasses and gloves. strip off the ends of the wire. then attach one end to the positive terminal, then wrap the wire around the screwdriver and touch the other end of the wire to the positive terminal. also be careful some sparks may fly when you do this. if it didnt work try it again  | ||
