For science fair this year im planning on seeing if magnets can effect the trajectory of a bb gun. I plan on mounting a bb gun to a stable surface and then aligning it with a target. Then i would use some sort of cylinder to shoot the bb gun through and this is where the magnets would be mounted. The problem of the experiment is to see if the magnets will affect the path of the bb. Do you think this will work? | ||

Sure. I would just set the rifle in a vise to keep it from moving, and shoot the BB past a strong magnet. I would expect to see a small horizontal deflection towards the magnet, and a small vertical drop due to the extra drag on the BB. But I might be surprised at your results -- that's why we do experiments. |
