I was thinking of doing a Gauss Rifle for a science fair project to calculate how many magnets would be needed to project a ball bearing into space, hypothetically of course, but i am in need of 2 more websites to base research on and also 2 books. Does anyone know where i can find any?

Try a Google search for "rail gun", "gauss gun", "linear motor",
"coil gun", or "mass driver" to get more information on magnetic
projectile launchers. I don't think there is a lot of information
on my version of the Gauss Rifle, simply because I only recently
invented it.

Maybe one of the 2 books could be "Gonzo Gizmos". ;-)
