hi, i'm 14 and i've been working on this mini hydro-electric generator for school and its not working!!! I tried everything I got the right wire (enameled magnet wire 24 guage) and i used sand paper on the ends to take off the enameled stuff and i connected them so the electrons would follow. I made a turbine and i got a dowel and the ceramic magnets and i put it all together. Then i got the aligator clips and attached them to a christmas light because it is low voltage and i dont know how many volts im producing and im not going to go spend another 50$ on one of those machines to tell me. BUT PLEASE HELP ME I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS AND ITS NOT WORKING AND I HAVE TO GIVE IT IN IN 2 DAYS!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! |

Use a multimeter instead of the light bulb. Light bulbs need a lot more power than you are producing. You might be able to light an LED (light emitting diode) if you use one of the very high brightness ones (it will just barely glow with one or two milliamperes). |

Radio Shack has both LEDs and meters. The meter will definitely work, the LED may not. |
