I am trying to build a jet engine mainly from parts available at a car junkyard. The most that I can spend is $100 (not counting the junkyard pieces); I can get the junkyard parts for free. Can you help me??? |

If you do a Google search for "jet engine turbo charger" you will find many pages that discuss how to build a jet engine from an automobile turbo charger. |

I have built a model jet engine using soda cans. It is powered by WD-40. It consists of a can with both ends cut off and turbines made by cutting the side of the can into strips. These force the air though a "funnel" also made from the sides of a soda can. An afterbuner can be added by spraying raw fuel in the exauhst of the engine. If you would like plans you can contact me at crzscntst@yahoo.com. I may not be able to e-mail them back for a long time so please be patient. |

1-Get a metal tube and cover both ends. 2-Drill a small hole in one end. 3-Fill just below half of the pipe with water. 4-Put it horizontally on what you want to propell (strap down tightly) 5-Plug the hole with some wax and light a fire under the tube. 6-Wait and observe the power of steam. |

I need to build a model of a jet engine. It does not have to work. Very interested in Andrew's soda can engine that runs on WD-40. Can anyone help with suggestions on design using stuff bought at a harware store or found at home |

Search Google for Jam jar jet. It is a pulse jet engine made from an old mason jar or jam jar, extremely simple, and affordable. All the parts you need can be found in your house, or at a local hardware store. |

Here
I held the motor in place by using a clay epoxy to fill in the pipe and make a solid support to the motor. I made the air intake by cutting a 2" by 2" square to the bottom of the pipe and glued another PVC pipe and placed it in an angle. I made the exhaust of the pipe by melting it partially then rolling it against the ground until it formed a nice smaller exhaust about 3/4 the original diameter of the PVC piping. I used a soda can to make a turbine by making a circle slightly smaller than the diameter of the tube (to maximize the air input). I used the heat shrink tube to connect and extend the motor's shaft. The syringe is used to spray the fuel to the turbine thus making a mist of flammable stuff, I forgot to draw the candle in front of the nozzle so when the fuel comes out of the exhaust it will start up the combustion inside. (putting too much fuel might not work. i also tried using computer fan in this project so all you have to do is stick a tube to the exhaust of the fan, it also look more like a jet engine than the one above... |

hmm use metal instead of pvc get an igniton coli driven by a 555 ic and a large transistor conecter to a sparke plug 2 ignite the fuel u can iliminate the fan by using a blower, hairdryer or vacume cleaner in reverse or beter yet add a pulsjet valv and illiminate the fan all together |
